Holy Communion

We worship Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament during the Mass, at Eucharistic Adoration, and where He is present in the tabernacle, but one of the most important and intimate ways that we share in His presence is when we receive Holy Communion. Holy Communion unites us more closely to Jesus, and it is also a sign that we are living in communion with His Church, following the teachings that Jesus has handed down to us.

Children in second grade or higher prepare for the celebration of First Holy Communion through catechetical classes, family workshops, rites, and parent meetings. Children are required to attend Parish Religious Education (PRE) classes or have been enrolled in a Catholic school for the full year prior to beginning preparation to receive the sacrament. In other words, for a child to receive First Holy Communion and/or First Reconciliation in second grade, they must attend religion classes (PRE or Catholic school) in both first and second grades.

Adults are prepared to receive the Sacrament of the Eucharist through the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA) program. Information about RCIA can be found here.
